The year is coming to an end and we are loosening our pants to get ready to eat and have fun. It’s been a long year.
First thing on the food enjoyment agenda? The Great Kampala Cook off. In its inaugural edition, it promises a feisty competition between several cooks and several pro-chefs. Winners will walk away with prizes and bragging rights. Naturally, there will be food and fun for both adults and children.
But besides eating, attendees will also have a chance to learn from 3 seasoned chefs in amini master class sessions. First, Chef Ali, read more about him here, Chef Ali on cooking will teach about sauces. Second, Chef Henry Omusugu whose cooking journey has been going on for 16 years now will explore salad making. His service record goes from May fair Hotel in Jinja to The Serena Kampala, to Dubai and now to Mosa courts as the Executive Chef.
Third, Chef Emma Gonahasa who started out at Obligato in 2001, started The mobile chefs, ran a cooking show on Urban TV and worked as executive chef at Nile Village hotel and Spa. In 2016, he opened Street light restaurant and pizzeria in Jinja.
The Cook off will be judged by Chef Ali, Chef Omusugu and Chef Nankinga Apophia who boasts 20 years in the culinary industry.
Entry fee will be 10,000shs (which comes with food) while children will enter for free.
