TURKISH BRUNCH AT VITAMIN CAFE

Vitamin cafe Uganda

Brunches may come and go, but the Sunday brunch at Vitamin Café Centenary Park seems to last.

This brunch is such a delight that I was reluctant to write this review least people flood it and ruin it for all of us. It features 2 important things: lots of food and friends.

Sight

Vitamin café serves a buffet from 10am to about 2pm and it is rich with colour. From dips to flat breads as far as the eye can see, vegetables as brightly coloured as the rainbow, eggs and salads, olives, cheese, sweet treats to as much tea as you can drink. I exaggerate but it is almost dizzying. For 70k (up from 50k), you can eat as much as you want.

Meat lovers may grapple at just the goat cubes and sausages, but it is a Mediterranean diet so emphasis is put on fresh foods, vegetables and whole grains.

Sound

One of the best things, aside from the food, is the sound. The music is unintrusive, allowing us to talk and eat in peace. Please Vitamin Café, never bring a DJ to this, never bring a band. Being there is a reminder of what Sundays used to be like, spending time with loved ones, catching up, resting and eating.

Touch

I had an eggplant baba ganoush the last time which was so divine I wanted to repeat it. It is soft and goes well with any of the flat breads. It is amazing what can be done with the humble eggplant. It is also quite filling so serve a little, or leave it for the end.

I know I mentioned friends and family but if no one is willing to join you, don’t be afraid to treat yourself. The atmosphere is warm enough that you will have a good time alone anyways. A great day was had but the children’s play area could do with a good washing.
