In Their Kitchen 5: Sophie Musoki

Curious about what the neighbours have in their kitchen? We are. That’s why we are taking a look into the kitchens of food lovers we know.

Every other month, one of them will share 5 of their favourite ingredients and tell us why they love them so. This month we feature Sophie Musoki.

Sophia Musoki is a Ugandan food blogger, writer and photographer whose work through A Kitchen in Uganda, has been instrumental in bringing Ugandan cuisine to the world. She is a strong advocate for eating local, exploring Ugandan food and way of cooking and using indigenous produce to make scrumptious meals.

1. GARLIC

I mostly enjoy cooking savory food and I always make sure I have enough garlic with me because when it is cooked right, it  it has a beautiful  flavor.

2. FRESH GINGER

Underrated but its really great for cooking. Aside from making tea and ginger sweets, I use it in almost all my stews. The combination of  grated/crushed ginger and garlic always adds magic to a stew.

3. SHARP KNIFE

I really really like my knives sharp. There is nothing more irritating than a blunt knife.

4. BLACK PEPPER

I swear by black pepper because just an addition of it in stews heightens the flavor. Always!

5. CHOPPING BOARD

A sturdy chopping board is something I always make sure I have around me when cooking. Not only does it ease the job of cutting things but also acts as a prop for my photography
