New year, same directive: Enjoying good food

It has been a while since I’ve been on here but I am back now, inspired anew.

Over the years, I have eaten food from different parts of the world right here in Uganda. This led me to wonder, is it possible to travel the entire world, through food, in Uganda? It could be.

This year, I am embarking on a series called ‘Around the world in Uganda’ or ‘Atana yita yita…’ it’s a Luganda saying?: If you have not travelled you will believe your mother to be the best cook…I haven’t yet decided on the name. However, it will be about all the foreign food you can eat in Uganda. The first of these will be a story on Sudanese food which if like me, you had never, you are bound to be surprised. But before that, let’s go back a little ways to some of the food from other lands that has been documented on For food’s sake eat.

1. Biriyani-India/South Asia

2. Egusi and Semolina, popular in West Africa

3. Shawarma from the Middle East

4. Enjera, native to Ethiopia and Eritrea

5. Khao phad nuea and Gai phad pak from Thailand

6. Fajitas from Mexico (or Tex Mex)

7. Moroccan Mezze platter

Kabira

8. Wonton soup from Macau

9. Tantanmen noodles from Japan
